YELGUN REST AREA

Public BBQ

Yelgun Rest Area near Byron Bay operates as an essential overnight stop for travellers, though securing a spot requires tactical planning. The electric BBQ facilities and clean toilets make it perfectly adequate for road trips, while the famous Bean Van coffee service (appearing twice daily) has achieved legendary status among grey nomads. Despite 'no camping' signs, overnight stays in caravans and cars are clearly tolerated and generally safe. The facility provides around 8 caravan spots and 20 car spaces, though early arrival is essential as it fills quickly. Historical information boards add educational value, making this more than just a convenient pit stop.
